Good news: the bulk of school construction across the district is set to wrap up this fall! Site and completion work will continue throughout the district this fall. Read below what to expect for each project at the start of the school year.

Basalt Elementary School: The site work that has been taking place over the summer will continue into the fall. Good news: the traffic and parking site between Basalt Middle and Basalt Elementary Schools underwent an overhaul this summer to alleviate congestion at drop off times for parents and students.

Basalt Middle School: Basalt Middle School: 95% of the site work will be completed before school begins with a few projects finishing this fall. Students will return to a new foyer, Media Center, Tech Lab, music and art rooms, playground, and expanded Makerspace. Students will continue to use the bungalows as classrooms until the new classroom pod area finishes at the end of October. The auditorium will be ready for BMS’ Back to School Night and Grand Opening Celebration on September 19 at 6 p.m. Mark your calendars!

Basalt High School: Work on the new music addition and the student commons area will be ongoing through the end of September. Students will be able to eat lunch in the new cafe space at the start of school, but won't be able to spread out into the commons until the end of September. Band and choir students can expect to start classes in the auxiliary gym and will be able to move into the new music rooms later in September. Stay tuned for the BHS Open House this fall!

Bridges High School: Students can expect to start of the school year in the completed, newly renovated space! Landscaping work will be finishing up in the fall semester. Stay tuned for the BRHS Open House this fall!

Carbondale Middle School: Landscaping will continue through the fall, but students can expect to utilize the completed, newly renovated interior spaces at the start of the school year! Mark your calendars for the CMS Open House on September 19 at 6 pm!

Sopris Elementary School: While some site work will be continuing this fall around the building, students can expect to enjoy the new playground at the start of the school year. The new early childhood education classrooms will also be ready for use by the start of the school year.

Riverview School: Both wings of the school will be open when school starts! As will be the case elsewhere, site and completion work will continue at Riverview into the fall. Stay tuned for the Riverview Open House on August 31 at 5 pm.

Glenwood Springs Elementary School: Next year, students can expect to utilize the new wing of the school and some modular classrooms. Work will begin on the renovation of the old main building. During construction, students will walk two blocks for playground access. The new cafe and kitchen will be under construction through next spring during which food services will utilize satellite operations out of the media center. Stay tuned for information about the GSES Open House in March 2018.

Glenwood Springs Middle School: Students can expect to take advantage of all completed, newly renovated interior spaces at the start of the school year. Landscaping work will continue through fall semester. Mark your calendars for the GSMS Open House on September 14 at 6 pm!
